Set Information

Lorcana was first announced shortly before the D23 Expo – a Disney convention at the Anaheim Convention Center, California in 2022. At the Expo, two sets of the very first Lorcana cards were available to the public in limited qualities. We call this entire set the D23 Expo set.

There are seven cards that feature the D23 Expo logo (so far) and all of them also have a “1st” stamp for first edition. These seven are likely the only cards that will ever have that stamp – though it was planned for the first run of The First Chapter to also have this stamp. However, this decision was reversed.

The first card in the D23 Expo set was Mickey Mouse Brave Little Tailor. This card was given out for free at the Lorcana booth from September 9th-11th 2022. Only limited quantities were available each day. This card does not have a holo foil treatment.

It is card number 1 in the set and the first Lorcana card ever shown or available to the public. Read more in Does Lorcana have a First Edition?

The other six cards came in a decorative cardboard portfolio called the D23 Expo Collector’s Set. The set was available for purchase for $49.99 at the D23 Expo 2022 in Anaheim Convention Center, California from September 9th-11th 2022. Again, only a limited quantity were available per day.

All of these six cards have a holo foil treatment. All seven cards are also available in The First Chapter with minor text and design changes.

Set Printing, Misprints + Errata

These cards had some earlier design choices which were updated for later sets.

Firstly, next to the name of the illustrator they have “Illus.” text, which has been changed to a pen nib in later sets.

They also have the set name “1 TFC” for the 1st set, and TFC for The First Chapter. This will be changed to just “1” in the actual set. Both of these changes were made because they can be the same between different languages.

They all have X/P1 in their set details to show they are X number in Promo Set 1 – for example, Stitch Rock Star is 2/P1. So these cards are part of Promo Set 1 as well as D23 Expo. There will likely be different promo set numbers per year or for rotation purposes, and they could contain promos from different sets or events.
