New Official “Lorecast” Event This Weds – What You Should Know

A new livestream event was announced today by the Disney Lorcana team. The first Lorecast will be this Wednesday, streamed live on Twitch.

Here are a few things you should know, plus some… ✨𝔀𝓲𝓵𝓭 𝓼𝓹𝓮𝓬𝓾𝓵𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 ✨

When: Weds 20th March

  • 10 am Pacific
  • 11 am Mountain
  • 12 noon Central
  • 1 pm Eastern
  • 5 pm GMT (UK)
  • 6 pm Germany/France/Italy

Where: twitch.tv/DisneyLorcana

Twitch is a live streaming site, mostly for watching people play games or chat. It’s worth registering an account for the stream. According to the team, there won’t be a video replay of the stream available immediately after.

However, the info should come out officially soon after, as well as videos. We’ll be covering the stream on twitter, as will many other great content creators.

The team has confirmed on Discord that a digital client is not something they’ll be announcing in the Lorecast. So what can we expect? Our guesses would be, in order of likelihood: –

  • Set Championships reminder
  • More info on the Disney Lorcana Challenge competitive circuit – due for May.
  • Set 4 Official Announcement
  • Gateway product pics + a little more on the contents
  • Something about a restock of old sets for those looking to join competitive events
  • Australia/New Zealand release date
  • Spain/Mexico release date / possibly Spanish language cards?
  • Fan events details?
  • World Champs event location + date?
  • Judge program?

Again, apart from official information that is already out there: these are all speculation.

Competitive Events?

With the Set Championships coming up, all the info is out there, but we’d expect a quick reminder.

The competitive circuit was revealed to be called Disney Lorcana Challenge. It was announced to start in May, with the top four from regionals invited to World Champs in “early 2025”. More info on events, dates, and entrance seems very likely.

The Tournament Center Discord also mentioned this Lorecast event. TC are the tournament organizer for Disney Lorcana in the UK and hosted the Cannes event. It’s likely they’ll already be involved.

Disney Lorcana Judge Program + Complete Rules?

For competitive play, these two things are very much necessary. A judge program allows enthusiasts to take tests on rules, and then officiate at events when calls about rules are needed. A complete ruleset is also really important as a single document to refer to about the basic rules of gameplay.

Many card games have these from before release, but these have been a little slow for Lorcana. Hopefully, we’ll get some soon, and ideally before the regional Challenge events.

Set 4 Announcement?

Set 4 is slated for May 17th/31st, but no name has been shown yet. Rise of the Floodborn and Into the Inklands were revealed within three weeks of the previous set’s release. The 20th would make just under a month, so the first official announcement in the Lorecast would be perfect.

Disney Lorcana Gateway Reveal?

We’ve seen what looks like the French version of the Gateway box. It would be good to get a bit more official info on what’s included. From the sounds of it, it’s a great way for new players to learn the game and get some classic cards.

Restocks?

For restocks/reprints nothing has officially been confirmed or not confirmed. Given new competitive players would need access to older cards, a small restock of TFC at least might be helpful for them.

New Region Announcements?

The Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) region is supposed to be getting Lorcana according to a Ravensburger sales director, but there has been no big announcement yet.

There’s also been nothing official about Spanish language cards, but officially the English cards will be available in Spain and Mexico. Something official to announce that would make sense, but Spanish language cards would be the next step.

Italy just got Into the Inklands in Italian, plus access to the first two sets in Italian. So adding Spanish would be a logical next step and a massive market opportunity.

Fan Events??

Official fan events were also announced previously without more info. The Lorecast would be a perfect way of announcing them.

It’s also worth noting that the World Championships were due to take place at a “larger open event” in early 2025. Imagine a Disney Lorcana Worlds event at a park!

Anyway, that’s all for now. What do you think we’ll see, and will you be joining in live?
