Illumineer’s Trove Player’s Guide + Two New Card Names Revealed

Illumineer's Trove Player's Guide + Two New Card Names Revealed

After the flurry of info from the rules leak and demo games in the past month – things have definitely slowed down in Lorcana news. Luckily, we’ve managed to dig up two new cards and some interesting details on the Lorcana player’s guide.

After rooting around to find places to pre-order safely, we found what seems to be an official image of the contents of the Illumineer’s Trove. This product is an “all-in-one” box meant to jump-start the collection of both players and collectors new to the game.

From the official website: The ultimate treasure for both collectors and players, the Illumineer’s Trove includes a full-art storage box, two deck boxes, eight booster packs, a player’s guide, and more.

The player’s guide offers a look into the world of Lorcana as well as a complete visual guide to all cards in Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter. Also included are deckbuilding tips and game strategies.

Player’s Guide Picture

The image shows the first picture we’ve seen of the player’s guide. It only shows a couple of pages (18 + 19) but those have a glimpse into what seems like a “combo” play using two new cards, as well as a look at the collection pages.

Please bear in mind the image is fairly low quality, we can’t do much about it

Tinker Bell – Giant Fairy + Beast – Wolfsbane

Tinker Bell Giant Fairy Beast Wolfsbane

We already have a Tinker Bell and a Beast in The First Chapter but these two are new different versions. From the unclear image, it looks like they’re both characters, Tinkerbell Giant Fairy being Steel and Beast Wolfsbane Emerald.

It also looks like the Tink’s classifications bar (the bar under their name) is black, indicating they could be Floodborn. It could also just be the image quality showing the normal Steel gray darker…

The text isn’t clear enough to make out but as we know there are game strategies, the page likely shows us how these cards can be played in unison for a more powerful effect. Steel tends to be focused on challenging effectively, while Emerald so far involves a lot of banishing and returning cards.

Collection Page + Possible Promo Mickey?

Lorcana Players Guide Collection Page

The next page looks like it’s introducing how to use the collection pages – which at a guess are the following pages. It has an image of the Mickey Mouse Brave Little Tailor we’ve seen since D23, it’s set number 115, two check boxes for Base and Foil, as well as a check box with a blank space that’s had the word “Promo” written into it.

To us this means the collection pages will have a base, foil, and a “free text” box to write in, in the case there are promo or other versions of the card given out. We already have a promo of this card that was given out at D23, plus there should be non-foil “base” and foil versions in the main set.

There are also Lorcana League promo versions of three cards due to be in The First Chapter. So having that extra bit to fill in another version of the card makes sense. We’ll probably see different ways to get promos – like at events, magazine inserts, and mail-ins – of the cards over time and this makes it easy to note them down.

Promo Mickey Mouse Brave Little Tailor Theory

Though it might be just a demonstration of what the following pages are used for – we have a theory. Given that this Mickey is the flagship of the game (being the first card ever shown) and that the D23 promos were given out in such small numbers at a very exclusive event…

We think there might be another promo version of this Mickey available to players at some point. Again, it could be just that this page is a demonstration of how to use the guide, or that it’s just giving the option for the D23 promo – but we think otherwise.

Rarities Confirmed + Companion App

The rarities box we’ve seen before is present again but slightly different from before. However, there is no secret extra sixth rarity shown in the box… yet.

The last page makes a reference to the Companion App which we’ve already been told about. It seems like it will be a great way to keep track of the cards you have on mobile, as well as find stores that sell the cards or hold organized play events.
