Illumineer’s Quest: Deep Trouble

This is a brand new type of product, a co-operative game called an Illumineer’s Quest. The first one will be Deep Trouble, and feature Illumineer’s teaming up to take down Ursula.

The game follows the Illumineers as they track down the malevolent glimmer Ursula to her lair at the edge of Lorcana. Unfortunately, Ursula has been preparing for the Illumineers’ arrival by entangling glimmers with mind control as well as causing natural disasters to create seemingly impossible obstacles.

It will take every bit of the Illumineers’ skill and teamwork to keep Ursula from cementing her hold on the realm of Lorcana. The game includes a guided gameplay area for Ursula, two preconstructed Disney Lorcana TCG player decks (featuring Disney’s Mulan and Yen Sid and built with cards from the first four Disney Lorcana TCG sets), and a fierce Ursula deck the conniving sea witch plays by her own rules.

The game offers four difficulty levels ranging from easy to extreme, with each level featuring rules variations that make the play experience unique. Ursula’s power increases throughout the game, so players are encouraged to customize their decks for their best chance of success at the extreme difficulty level.

Endlessly replayable, the game includes everything needed for 1-2 players and can be expanded up to 4 players with additional Disney Lorcana TCG decks. Players can utilize the cards featured in the preconstructed player decks or bring their own decks to the game. Ursula’s deck features a unique card back to make her cards easily distinguishable.

Player turns occur at the same time, so coordinate with your team, using abilities and effects on each other’s glimmers to ruin Ursula’s schemes.

Where will you fight Ursula: at the site of your first encounter, or at her lair, where her powers are the greatest? Battleground cards determine how difficult the encounter will be, while giving Illumineers unique abilities at the cost of lore. While the first two battlegrounds are great for starting out, two more are included to give players even greater challenges with Deep Trouble.

The two pre-built player decks contain cards from The First Chapter through to Ursula’s Return. They are reprinted cards with unique tentacle-like decorations shooting out from their frames. Each has numbering over the normal 204 from their set, which is normally reserved for Enchanted cards.

The cards in the Ursula deck have Q1 where the set number normally is and are numbered up to 31, with a lore counter symbol icon where the rarity is. All of Ursula’s deck cards seem to have the Entangled classification and it’s unclear what ink color they are, with lots of black ink decorations on the cards.
